Our upcoming January concerts, "Voices of Life, Voices of Light,” celebrates music exclusively written by female composers featuring the compelling cantata Everyday Wonders: The Girl from Aleppo by Cecilia McDowall and a world premiere piece by Santa Fe composer (and Zia Singer), Susan Anders.
The centerpiece work, Everyday Wonders: The Girl from Aleppo by Cecilia McDowall, describes the stunning 16-month journey of Nujeen Mustafa, a Kurdish teenager with cerebral palsy. She was seeking asylum from Syria and made her way from Aleppo through 8 countries, finally arriving in Germany, pushed in her wheelchair by her older sister Nasrine.
